After a training in interior design and a few years of practice, in 1970, Ginette Gadoury directed, for the Quebec Labor Ministry of Labor, a contract study on the furniture industry. In 1972, following one of her findings and recommendations, she created the Décormag magazine. It is the first interior design magazine for consumers in Quebec and even in Canada. Its success will create a real magazine industry in Quebec. At 28, the young designer joined the small group of women entrepreneurs. At the time, this publication also played a role in developing Quebecers’ taste for design.
Since then, she has developed other products promoting design. With her daughter Brigitte, she co-chairs the company that became the PID Agency (www.agencepid.com) and which produces the SIDIM that became the International Design Show of Montreal; INTÉRIEURS Magazine for 21 years, designed for design and architecture professionals as well as for design consumers; the GRANDS PRIX DU DESIGN contest. Ginette and Brigitte are supported by a team of professionals and external collaborators, all talented and passionate about design, aware of their roles in the success of the challenges presented to them.
Ginette Gadoury is a design ambassador locally and internationally and has played an important role in the 2006 UNESCO City of Design designation for the City of Montreal.
